CENTER POLICIES
CLASS HOURS
Tuesdays 3:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.
Fridays 3:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.
In order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to study, we request that only students enter the Kumon classroom area. Please ensure all conversation in the waiting area is kept to a whisper in order to limit the number of distractions to our students. We encourage children to have a snack and use the bathroom prior to entering the center so that no other students are distracted during class.
CENTER CALENDAR
Kumon is a year-round program of study. We are open for most national holidays unless otherwise specified. Specific dates of center closings will be notified through a notice or an e-mail.
CLASS ATTENDANCE
Class attendance is a vital part of the Kumon Program. Observing students at work in class is essential in the lesson planning process for each student. We also use class sessions to introduce new concepts to your children so they are able to ask for assistance in class and are able to practice more of these new concepts at home during the week. If a student is unable to attend class, please contact the center as soon as possible so we can arrange to have your children pick up the work the following class day or have it left in the pickup box outside the center.
ABSENCE POLICY
Students who are absent for more than 1 month in a calendar year and have not made prior
arrangements to continue their study, will need to re-register and pay a new registration fee. Continuous enrollment is assumed until program completion. Absent students will lose all accumulated Kumon Plus points, a reward program that allows students to redeem prizes based on their performance. If you plan to discontinue with the Kumon Program, we require 1 full month’s notice so your children can finish off his/her level and achieve their learning outcomes before they leave.
WORKLOAD
Our goal is approximately 30 minutes of study per day, per subject, for class work and homework. Parental and student feedback regarding the work is always welcome.
VACATIONS
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning a vacation and will be absent from class so that we can adjust your children’s workload if necessary and prepare worksheets to take with you. We encourage students to not interrupt their regular Kumon routine as this inhibits their ability to move forward and may result in a further delay in concept mastery and level completion. We will provide the worksheets necessary to stay on track, even during vacations and holidays.
WORKSHEETS
Students must return completed work they have done at the beginning of class day. Please ensure that all homework has the student’s name, date, and completion time recorded on the first page of the worksheets. These worksheets will then be checked and the results will be entered into our database. Having the correct information, especially completion time of each set of homework, is vital in helping us determine whether we are on the right pace for level completion and greatly aids us in lesson planning in both this level as well as the next.
CANCELLATION
If for any reason you decide that Kumon is not the right program for your children, please give us a minimum of a 1 month notice. For example, if you would like to stop Kumon in May, please let us know no later than March 31.
