About Your Instructor
Joanne Liang
Joanne, a dedicated educator with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Simon Fraser University, brings a wealth of experience to her role at Kumon. Growing up in a family of educators, she developed a deep-rooted passion for inclusive education and firmly believes that every student has the potential to succeed.
Joanne’s teaching career began at Meadowridge School, a prestigious Pre-K to Grade 12 World IB private school. There, she taught Grade 10 and 12 Chemistry labs, supporting students of all ages through their science laboratory coursework. By leveraging her deep expertise in the IB curriculum alongside the structured Kumon program, she successfully prepares students to enter Pre-IB tracks and excels at supporting those already enrolled in rigorous IB programs.
Joining her is co-instructor Dr. Brian Su, who brings an exceptional academic background to Kumon Willoughby Town Centre, having served as a university professor for more than 10 years. Together, Joanne and Dr. Su combine their extensive experience in high-level academia and specialized K-12 schooling to offer students an unparalleled level of educational guidance. Their shared expertise ensures that every child receives a comprehensive, rigorous, and deeply supportive learning experience.
As a Kumon parent herself, Joanne has firsthand experience with the program's positive impact, having witnessed its benefits in her own daughters' education. She is deeply committed to helping children develop a positive attitude and growth mindset, setting them on a lifetime path to success. Joanne and Dr. Su are thrilled to share their knowledge and passion with families in the Langley Willoughby community.
