Class Schedule:
- Students are encouraged to attend the class regularly on their scheduled day and time. Regular classes are 30 minutes per subject twice a week.
- If your family schedule changes and you would like to change your regularly scheduled Kumon day and/or time, please contact us to check availability and we will try our best to fit Kumon in your schedule.
- Students are encouraged to complete work every day of the week, including weekends and holidays, in order to make smooth progress, and build good work habits.
Class Rules:
- Students are required to behave in a respectful manner at the Kumon Centre. This includes using good manners, a quiet voice and not being unruly. It is always important to remember that students are studying and their time here must be respected. Students who do not follow the rules will be asked to leave the class in order to maintain the learning environment.
- Please ensure that your child’s pouch is looked after and that your child comes to each class with a pencil, eraser and all the work they were assigned. If, for any reason, homework has not been completed, please return it anyway.
- Parents of students aged six and under are required to wait in the centre for the entire time that their child is attending the class.
- Parents of older students are also encouraged to stay. However, if you leave the centre please ensure that you return before your child’s class work is completed. We cannot account for your child’s whereabouts once he/she has left the classroom/student area.
- Please inform us of any allergies, medical conditions or special needs that your child may have.
Attendance and Absences:
- If you will be going on vacation - Kumon is very portable. Let us know your last class day and the day you will return to class and we will prepare the work for you.
- Students are permitted to take one calendar month off a year (max.), for which they will not receive any Kumon materials and no tuition charges will be withdrawn.
- Students who are absent for more than one month are considered discontinued. Discontinued students will be required to pay the enrollment fee again upon re-enrollment.
If your child is not able to attend a class (not feeling well, etc.), and their work is not picked up, it will be deferred until the next scheduled class day. If you are picking up, please call and let us know.
Communication:
- Your child’s progress is always our highest priority. You will receive the test results after the completion of each level. However, if you would like a meeting to discuss how your child is progressing, please let us know, we will help set up an appointment for the meeting. Parent meetings are done by appointment outside of regular class hours but we are open to communication via call or email before the class or after the class.
- Please do not hesitate to call (905-607-7330) or e-mail at [email protected] if you need any guidance related to Kumon or if you would like to share information on what you are observing at home.
- Weather or emergency closures are communicated via email and also can be checked on the centre website at https://www.kumon.com/ca-en/mississauga-winston-churchill-dundas
Tuition Fee Policies:
- On-going monthly tuition is payable by Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) from a chequing account. - Fees are always paid for calendar month.
- Payments are processed on the 1st of the month (or the next business day) for the current month.
- $25.00 will be charged for non-sufficient funds (NSF) or non-current banking information. Please let us know if your banking information changes so we can update your information.
- No work will be assigned if tuition payments are not current.
Continuous Learning:
- Kumon is a year-round program and the Centre operates 12 months a year. We encourage our students to attend throughout the year, including the summer, so that students may advance beyond their grade level as soon as possible and experience the benefits of self-learning.
- Kumon is not a “quick fix” program; therefore a minimum 6-month personal commitment is required.
- Tuition is paid for the Kumon method - not the number of worksheets assigned or classes attended. Your child’s workload (number of worksheets per day) will vary with the content and complexity of the material they are studying.
