About the Centre

Introduction

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of North York-Jane Shoreham!

For over 60 years the Kumon Program has enriched the math and reading skills of preschool, elementary, and high school students from all over the world, and our centre is no different. Through daily practice, the Kumon Method aims to develop students’ strong academic ability for them to become capable members of society. It also aims to enable students to become independent by fostering in them the mind-set and skills for self-learning. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. Click here for more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. Click here for more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Our mission is to teach our students lifelong skills, such as organization, accuracy, speed, and motivation, while developing strong math and reading skills. Students who enroll in the program also experience an immense increase in confidence, a benefit that follows them in settings outside of the classroom. For several years, our centre team of knowledgeable and experienced staff has produced outstanding results in students from preschool, elementary, and high school. With a high level of math and reading skills, our team continues to refine student discipline and ability time and time again.
