Meera Sriram
My journey in Kumon started when I enrolled my son in the Kumon Math Program when he was in grade 2. After a period of time, I saw a remarkable change in his math skills. More than his academic development, I was amazed with how Kumon helped him to become an independent learner. His confidence in numbers grew, which led him to love math even more. I’m proud to share that he is now a successful Mechatronics Engineer, thanks to Kumon!
Education and continuous learning are two important components in my life. I have always been inclined to learn and I believe that, as a graduate of Bachelor of Education in Mathematics, children regardless of age should develop an interest in learning. Because I witnessed the success of how Kumon developed my own son, I became passionate about how Kumon can also help other children in the community of Maple Grove Oakville and the surrounding areas, not only in developing their academic ability, but also their independence and self-learning skills. These skills are relevant as they pursue higher education and beyond.
Having been an Instructor since April 2013, I have proactively engaged my students’ parents in maintaining the consistency of the skills they develop in our Kumon Centre and at home. The interactions and relationships I have maintained with families throughout the years continue to fuel my passion to become a better Kumon Instructor and learner myself. Like other Kumon Instructors, I have an earnest desire to help children succeed not only in school but also in life.
