About the Centre

Introduction

Our center is proud to serve our community for over 10 years. Over that time, we have had thousands of students attend our center. Almost 90% of our current students are studying material that is above their grade level. We have over 100 students that are AWARD winners.

It is located on Brimley and Huntingwood in a shopping plaza with spacious and adequate parking. There is a shopping mall, a Tim Hortons, a food court and a grocery store that parents can visit while waiting for their child to finish their Kumon session. We also have a parent’s waiting room in our bright and spacious center, for the convenience of our parents.

Our center is a reflection of the community we serve and the great multi-cultural city we live in. Our staff is able to provide communication in many languages, including Mandarin and Cantonese.

At our center, we have over 20 teaching assistants. We have university graduates, university students working towards teaching degrees and many top Kumon graduates helping our current students achieve academic excellence.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math program, please click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading program, please click here.

Policies

Centre Visit Class Times:
One subject students attend class for approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
Two subject students attend class for approximately 40 to 60 minutes.
Times may vary depending on the students’ level, age, worksheets assigned, and if new concepts are being introduced.

Centre Calendar: Kumon is a year-round program of study, and homework is assigned 365 days per year unless otherwise requested at the time of registration. Any adjustment request should be made at least one week in advance. We do observe some national holidays, including a 10-day closure at the end of December. Specific dates of Centre Closings will be posted in the parent waiting area.

Class Attendance Days: Centre work is a vital part of your child’s Kumon program. Observing and listening to students greatly assists the Instructor in planning for your child. We also prefer to introduce new concepts during Centre Days so that we may assist your child in reaching his or her Kumon goals.

Parent’s Role in Kumon: Please check that your child has completed their work daily. If you would like to mark their work, please let us know and we will provide you with an answer book.
