About Your Instructor
Leah MacElwee
Hello! My name is Leah MacElwee and I am very excited to introduce myself as the Director of the Kumon Centre in the Grantham Plaza!
I love St. Catharines! I have spent many years living here, and I couldn't be happier to be giving back to the community that has given so much to my family and me.
My educational background includes degrees in Psychology and Occupational Therapy from the University of Western Ontario. My employment background is as an Occupational Therapist, assessing people of all ages and backgrounds, and setting up individualized programs tailored to each client's needs. Both my education and work experience dovetail perfectly into my new role with Kumon as I will be assessing each and every student's reading and/or math abilities, and creating individualized programs tailored to the abilities of each and every student I work with.
With respect to these Kumon programs I will be creating for each student, I know I'm a little biased here, but they are incredible! I have gone through the worksheets myself and given my background, I can clearly see how each student will progress from wherever they start to wherever they need to be; learning critical thinking skills; learning how to learn!

Hello! My name is Cindy Dunn and I am very excited to be working with my sister, Leah, as the Chief Assistant at our Kumon Centre in the Grantham Plaza!
I have lived in St. Catharines all my life and can't believe that I now get the chance to be a part of enhancing and improving the lives of students in this City!
My educational background is a degree in Sociology from Brock University and a diploma in Social Work from Niagara College.
My passion for the Kumon program has a personal connection: my daughter. When my daughter was in Grade 3, she started having trouble keeping up with her classwork. I enrolled my daughter in a Kumon program and very quickly my husband and I saw that she was improving in her ability to understand the work she was asked to do at school. There was an added bonus; my daughter's confidence and happiness in attending and talking about school soared! From that point on I have been recommending the Kumon program as a supplement to the educational curriculum to any parent with a child experiencing something like what my daughter went through. The program would also benefit any child who is eager to advance in school because it is set up to introduce and master new skills as your child progresses.
