Welcome to Dufferin and St. Clair Kumon Math and Reading Centre. The Centre is located on St. Clair Ave. West and Earlscourt Ave.
For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.
Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.
The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.
The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.
Class Schedule: students attend classes 1-2 times/week. Class sessions are approximately 20 min per subject.
Centre Session: only students can enter the classroom during class hours. No cellphones, games, music, food, beverage, or any kind of distractions are permitted in the classroom area.
Homework and Home study: since homework is part of the Kumon Method to develop student's self-learning skills, students have to complete the assigned homework independently. Kumon recommends that students complete the homework daily in a consistent environment and time without any distractions.
Communication: we welcome communication and encourage parents to ask questions about their child's progress. Call or email the centre during office hours to schedule a meeting or parent conference.
Vacation / Absence Policy: call the centre prior to class if your child will be absent and to arrange for the work to be picked up. Please give at least one week's notice prior to a vacation to ensure that your child's Kumon is prepared in advance. There are no make-up sessions. Kumon is a year-round program. Students absent more than one month during a calendar year must be registered and pay the registration fee again.
