About Your Instructor
Phillip Meldrum
Phil Meldrum is the Instructor of a Kumon Centre that has proudly served the community for over 17 years. As both an educator and a parent of two boys currently enrolled in Kumon, Phil brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to supporting students and families alike.
Phil holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba and many years of experience in senior management. About 8 years ago, he made a career change to pursue something more impactful—helping children develop confidence, independence, and a strong academic foundation.
Under his leadership, the center has guided many students through to program completion, often years ahead of their grade level. One of Phil’s favourite moments each year is celebrating student success at the annual Advanced Student Honour Roll ceremony.
Outside the classroom, Phil is just as dedicated to learning and growth. He enjoys fishing with his sons, coaching youth sports, and exploring new places through family travel. His easygoing nature and belief in steady progress make him a trusted mentor to students and a supportive partner to parents on the Kumon journey.
