About Your Instructor
Monika Bernatek
As the Instructor and owner of the Kumon Math and Reading Center of River Park, I’ve spent the past 17 years helping students grow into confident, independent learners. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba and am passionate about supporting children as they build strong academic skills and a lifelong love of learning.
I’m also a Kumon parent, and my own children are successfully progressing through the program. That personal experience gives me a deep appreciation for the role Kumon can play, not just in helping kids succeed at school, but in shaping how they approach challenges and build lasting habits.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing students go from struggling with the basics to mastering advanced math and reading skills. Many of my students have gone on to complete the entire Kumon program, entering high school and university with skills far beyond their grade level. To celebrate these accomplishments, we host an annual Advanced Student Honour Roll Event which is a special occasion where we recognize the hard work and dedication of our top-achieving students.
At our River Park Kumon Center, I work closely with families to develop individualized study plans that allow students to progress at their own pace in a supportive and structured environment. I value strong communication between myself, our students, and their parents as the key to long-term success.
Outside of Kumon, I enjoy beekeeping, spending time outdoors, and traveling with my family — activities that reflect my love of learning, nature, and shared experiences.
