About Your Instructor
Nelsi Andrea Zilli
Hello, my name is Nelsi, and instead of introducing myself, I'd like to share with you my vision and pride in being a new Instructor at my Kumon Centre in Montreal-Montpellier. Like most of you, I am a mother who worries about the future of her children and wants them to have the opportunity to choose what they would like to become in life. As a parent, I was always available whenever my children needed explaining a grammar or math rule, preparing for school exams. A spark always warmed my heart whenever one of them told me: “You’re so good at explaining, Mom! You should be a teacher!”
That little glint always tickled me whenever a coworker or classmate thanked me for my patience every time I helped them out.
If I dusted off my memories as a Scout Leader, I could still feel the joy of having fun surrounded by children, seeing how they gained confidence when we encouraged them with positive reinforcement and the importance of having a sense of belonging.
Then, with the desire to gather all these feelings and to do something rewarding, I began to dream of a career change. Finally, the pieces of the puzzle came together when I discovered Kumon and fell in love with its philosophy!!!
The idea of helping children, not only in academic concepts but in autonomy, confidence, and self-esteem, gave me the push to leave behind a lifetime of studying and working in accounting. Just as one day, most of you and I left our homeland, with suitcases filled with hope for a future full of opportunities, I embarked on this new challenge.
I began my training to become a certified Kumon Instructor and thus be able to guide your children through their work, while being a continual source of support, guidance, and encouragement! This is how, as I prepare a lesson plan or monitor homework execution at the Centre, I am driven by the desire to develop in children a sense of accomplishment that fosters the joy of learning. Following each student closely allows me to understand their pace of progression and make the necessary adjustments so that they become more confident and independent.
I am convinced that this method can change our children's lives!
We always say: We are here for them... and I am here for you! Welcome to my Centre, a space to feel like family, even if our loved ones are far away!
