The Power of Consistency: Ayamaa Reaches Platinum Status and Program Completion

For the past seven years, Ayamaa has been on a Kumon journey that has shaped not only her academic growth, but also her passions in music, performing arts, and writing.

Consistency leads to Progress

Ayamaa enjoys the Kumon Program’s consistency, repetition, and gradual introduction of new material. There were moments when the concepts became challenging, such as carrying in addition and multiplication and borrowing in subtraction and division.  Even if she struggled the first time she saw these new concepts, Ayamaa knew she would repeat her worksheets until she mastered the material.

Consistency is also a huge part of gaining confidence and making continual progress in Kumon. “Daily practice makes it easier to remember and get more right,” said Ayamaa. Kumon worksheets are the first thing that Ayamaa does each day to ensure she continues making progress. Doing her Kumon every morning means Ayamaa knows it’ll be completed each day.

If Ayamaa is ever traveling or her routine changes with camp during the summer, her Instructor is informed so she can remain working, even if she’s on the go. “I continue through the summer and it’s easier to keep up, than to catch up,” said Ayamaa.

This discipline and hard work enabled her to be on the Kumon Advanced Student Honor Roll (ASHR). For reference, Kumon International Standard (KIS) is the global standard roughly equivalent to a student’s grade level. The ASHR recognizes and celebrates children studying above their school grade level.

Ayamaa earned the G by 4 and J by 6 awards in Reading while maintaining her ASHR (3) platinum status for over a year.

Reading Program Completion

By completing work daily, she completed the Kumon Reading Program in 2025 while in 6th grade!

When mastering tough concepts or finishing a level in Kumon, Ayamaa said, “I feel proud of myself, and overcoming that challenge makes others easier to overcome.”

Her advice to Kumon students is to “keep going and persevere.” She continued to stay motivated throughout the years by knowing the importance of working each day, and that sometimes it’s necessary to go backward before moving forward.

Achievements Outside of Kumon

Recently, Ayamaa has had some big wins: a successful piano performance and a performing arts show, where she showcased skills in capoeira, dance, and acting. Kumon has even helped her recall monologue lines more easily, a skill that’s strengthened through her daily reading practice and focus. Ayamaa is also a working background actor, most recently in a Disney production and an upcoming movie!

Even with her performing arts schedule, Ayamaa finds the time to enjoy her hobbies. She’s a photographer who loves taking images of nature. She also writes books and poems, both of which fuel her creativity and self-expression. Her goal is to become an author and write fiction, specifically fantasy. The writing skills instilled from the Kumon Reading Program will help make her goal a reality.
