Strong Reading Skills Can Change Your Child's Future

The Kumon Reading Program
Preschool — High School

Just 30 minutes per day can build a lifetime of advantages.

Daily Kumon reading practice takes about 30 minutes to complete. Students attend class twice a week at a Kumon Centre and complete assignments at home the other five days. Every child works at their own pace and masters each new reading concept before moving forward. You will watch your child’s reading and writing skills advance and see their confidence grow.

AGES 3-5

Give your preschooler a head start.

In the Kumon Reading Program, preschoolers start with “look, listen and repeat” exercises using colorful illustrations to connect words to familiar objects, before advancing to phonics and letter writing. Through practice, children develop a foundation of vocabulary, memory and phonemic awareness that will help them begin reading.

AGES 6-12

A love of reading can change a child’s life.

Building strong reading comprehension will prepare your child to advance through elementary school with confidence and an appreciation for learning. Reading skills affect every subject, so a strong vocabulary, an understanding of the proper use of grammar and an ability to interpret text will elevate your child’s learning experience.

AGES 13+

Competing in today’s world takes advanced reading skills.

As your child enters middle and high school, the Kumon Reading Program will help advance your child’s reading abilities and critical thinking skills necessary for rigorous college courses. Through the study of advanced literature, your child will analyze and interpret diverse information in complex texts, from literary criticism to academic, social and political commentary.
