How can I track my child’s work and monitor their progress?
In the Kumon Connect app, you can monitor your child’s work and progress daily through the Study Records and Study History features.
Kumon Connect Study History
The Study History feature allows students to see a monthly overview of their work at a glance in a convenient calendar view. Completed study days are marked with a star. A red star represents Reading and a blue star represents Math, making it easy to track consistency throughout the month. At the bottom of the study history, you will also see the total number of worksheets completed for the current month, along with a cumulative count from previous months.
Kumon Connect Study Records
In the Study Records you can view the exact worksheet completed, the score received, and how long it took your child to finish the assignment. Standard completion time is an important part of your child’s Kumon journey, and Kumon Connect makes it easy to track this—especially when your child is studying at home.
Study Records are color-coded based on completion time, making it simple for both you and your child to stay aligned with the time goals discussed with your Instructor.
Completed assignments (sets) are color-coded to show how long it took the student to complete them.
- Blue indicates the work was completed faster than the target time.
- Yellow indicates the work was completed within the target time range.
- Pink indicates the work took longer than the target time.
- Gray indicates the assignment has been completed but has not yet been graded
A core part of Kumon is building independence in your child’s study habits. Kumon Connect supports independence by giving students access to their study records so they can reference previously learned topics, along with daily worksheet grading and frequent feedback. At the same time, it provides you with visibility into their progress so you can stay informed without feeling like you are hovering or invading their space.

What are the benefits of Kumon Connect versus paper worksheets?
There are many benefits of Kumon Connect that truly elevate a student’s Kumon journey. To highlight a few: Kumon Instructors can review each student’s work to create an individualized lesson plan. With Kumon Connect, Instructors can now see students’ work in real time and even play back a specific worksheet to better understand a student’s thought process. This helps ensure pages are being completed correctly and allows Instructors to make immediate adjustments to lesson planning. Rather than waiting until the student’s next center day to review their work on paper, Instructors will make those adjustments and can send a quick message through the app explaining the change in lesson planning, keeping communication clear and timely.
For Early Learners, there is a built-in audio feature that guides them through the worksheet. The audio models proper pre-reading skills, such as moving from left to right and top to bottom, repeats words, allows time for verbal response, and models correct phonics usage. The audio feature supports independence during home study by guiding students through their work without requiring constant adult assistance. With paper worksheets, students miss out on this feature that provides additional guidance during home study. Over time, this helps build confidence as students learn to navigate worksheets independently.
Older students entering the program are often already comfortable using tablets for learning. This familiarity makes their transition into Kumon seamless. Kumon Connect allows them to complete additional worksheets when appropriate, helping them move quickly through introductory levels. Students who are motivated to do more can also access extra work as needed, giving them flexibility while staying aligned with their learning. With paper worksheets, students may be limited to a set weekly number of worksheets and don’t have the flexibility to complete additional work without an additional trip to the center.
Since the program is digital, will my child still be practicing handwriting?
The digital worksheets on Kumon Connect are identical to our paper worksheets, including the handwriting component. Kumon Connect students on levels 5A and above are required to use a stylus so they can write their answers directly on the digital worksheets. Many families also choose to add a paper-feel screen protector to their tablet to enhance the natural writing experience when completing worksheets. These screen protectors mimic the feel of pencil on paper while writing on a tablet.
Early Learner students will have an additional writing component to develop proper letter writing, through Kumon’s supplementary level Z worksheets. Our Z-level paper worksheets are used during class sessions (and sometimes for homework, too) as needed to support fine motor skill development.
I’ll be traveling or adjusting my schedule—does Kumon Connect offer flexibility to accommodate these changes?
We understand that unexpected schedule changes happen. With Kumon Connect, you can put those worries at ease because worksheets are always readily available for your student to complete. Daily practice is essential to progress, and the tablet option makes everything accessible while still keeping lesson planning accurate and on track.
Similarly, if your family is traveling for an extended period of time, Kumon can travel with you! Students can complete their work on their tablet and check in with their Instructor periodically throughout their trip, ensuring consistency, as long as you’re in Wi-Fi range! In the past, when families had extended travel plans, Instructors often prepared and sent home several weeks of worksheets in advance. With Kumon Connect, lesson plans can now be adjusted in real time.
How do Instructors provide comments or feedback on assignments through Kumon Connect?
The Kumon Connect app includes a feature that allows Instructors and graders to write comments or underline material in the worksheets, providing guidance for self-correcting worksheets. In addition, the application has a messaging feature where Instructors can send short messages to students, which appear each time a student logs into the app. These messages can include lesson plan updates, praise, guidance on common mistakes, and more. By receiving these messages, students feel connected and recognized by their Instructor even outside of the center. This ongoing communication helps maintain motivation and makes home study more manageable.
