Through Kumon Connect, an innovative tablet-based platform, students in diverse communities—including remote learners, homeschooling families, and those without access to nearby Kumon centers—can now benefit from personalized learning. By leveraging technology to extend the reach of the Kumon Method, we are ensuring that more children have the opportunity to develop essential skills, build confidence, and succeed academically.

Reaching More Children

Ayisha Hayes-Taylor, an instructor at Kumon of Louisville-Wellington Center, noticed that many students in her community needed a personalized education system capable of catering to various skill levels. She recognized that Kumon was the perfect program to address this need and ensure that all students had access to individualized skill development. However, she also observed that transportation, financial constraints, and limited opportunities were barriers preventing families from attending Kumon centers. To overcome these challenges, Ayisha partnered with a nonprofit organization called the Louisville Urban League. Through this partnership, she introduced Kumon learning opportunities in schools and via Kumon Connect, ensuring that all students could benefit from Kumon’s educational model.

Individualized Learning

Kumon’s approach is designed to cater to each student’s unique learning needs, attitudes, and academic development, starting with a diagnostic test. Instructors at every Kumon center use these results to determine the student’s starting point, ensuring that learning begins at the level that is “Just Right” for them. This approach fosters a sense of achievement and builds confidence, helping students develop consistent study habits while addressing any learning gaps. By adapting to the needs of each student, Kumon ensures that every child, regardless of their starting point or learning style, can grow and succeed.

Parent Involvement

Parental involvement is crucial to a child’s learning journey, particularly for younger students. Kumon Connect strengthens this partnership by allowing parents to stay more engaged with their child’s progress than ever before. The platform offers an overnight grading service, enabling instructors to promptly analyze performance and adjust lesson plans accordingly. The replay function allows educators to review how students approach and solve problems, offering valuable insights to deliver personalized feedback. Additionally, instructors can use communication features to share feedback with students outside of class hours, helping them stay motivated and reinforcing key skills. This seamless connection empowers parents to actively support their child’s academic development and ensures that students receive the guidance they need to succeed.
