How Kumon’s Curriculum Supports Elementary School Learning

Elementary School Math

In the levels of the Kumon Math Program that correspond with elementary school, students deepen their understanding of the four basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students get started with single digits and progress to challenging problems as they advance through the levels. Once students are confident in the four operations, they move on to simple fractions, setting them up to tackle middle school math topics.

Elementary School Reading

In the levels of the Kumon Reading Program that correspond with elementary school, students progress from understanding word functions to reading aloud and improving reading comprehension. They advance from understanding word and sentence structure to mastering paragraph structure and comprehension. Students begin to identify core concepts and main ideas of text to expand their love for reading, preparing them to tackle more advance concepts in middle school reading.
