Discovering the Benefits of Kumon

For Aaron Owusu, Kumon has been more than just a learning program—it’s been a pathway to mastering academic concepts ahead of time. What Aaron enjoys most about Kumon is the ability to stay ahead in school. By working through Kumon’s methodical approach, he gained a deeper understanding of the material before it’s even introduced in the classroom. Aaron said, “Being ahead in school allowed me to grasp topics that I probably wouldn’t have without the foundation that Kumon provided me.” This head start has made a significant difference in his confidence and ability to excel academically.

The Impact of Kumon on Academic Success

Kumon’s impact on Aaron’s academic journey has been profound. By consistently being ahead of the curve, Aaron has been able to tackle challenging subjects with ease. The strong foundation built through Kumon has not only prepared him for advanced topics but has also instilled a deep comprehension that has been crucial as he prepares for the next phase of his education at Ohio State University. Attending Kumon of Gaithersburg – Muddy Branch under the guidance of the Center Director, Ms. Palak Sanghvi, students not only excelled in their studies, but also gained the confidence and skills needed to stay ahead in school and in life. With Ms. Sanghvi’s unwavering support, Aaron developed a strong foundation in math, perseverance, and critical thinking, which led to his remarkable achievements.

Motivation Through Hard Work and Perseverance

Staying motivated in Kumon can be challenging, especially when the work becomes difficult or repetitive. However, Aaron has learned that perseverance is key. He understands that the effort put in now will pay off in the long run, saving time and energy in future academic pursuits. He says that “even though the work is difficult and might feel tedious at times, it will save you so much time and effort in the future.” This mindset has been a driving force behind Aaron’s success, enabling him to push through tough moments and continue to excel.

Achievements and Contributions

Throughout his journey, Aaron has accomplished remarkable things, both academically and personally. Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Swimming: Competing at the 2024 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, and competing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, representing Eritrea.
  • Academic Success: Securing a full academic scholarship to Ohio State University.

Extracurricular Interests and Future Goals

Outside of academics, Aaron is passionate about swimming, playing the piano, and exploring the field of engineering. These hobbies have fueled his ambition to become an electrical engineer, with a specific goal of developing waterproof wireless earbuds for competitive swimmers. This combination of interests and academic excellence is setting Aaron on a path to achieving his dreams.

Looking Toward the Future

As Aaron prepares to graduate and begin his journey at Ohio State University, he is also focusing on maintaining his strong math skills in preparation for college. Reflecting on the math concepts learned through Kumon, Aaron plans to review and reinforce this knowledge to ensure a smooth transition into higher education.

Kumon has played an essential role in shaping Aaron’s academic and personal growth. The skills, discipline, and confidence he has gained will continue to guide him as he embarks on new challenges and opportunities.
